Criminal Justice >  How we can help - Enhanced Arrest Referral

The Enhanced Arrest Referral team primarily work in police custody suitesand magistrate court cells as part of the Drugs Interventions Programme (DIP), the team work with individuals whose illegal drug use is connected to offending, agree support plans and work with clients within the community.

Workers offer a service to anyone who has been arrested and needs help with drug or alcohol misuse.

We help in the following ways:
  • Assessment of substance misuse and related needs - helping clients to reduce their drug or alcohol use
  • Referral to services including counselling, prescribing and other health checks
  • Adviceon reducing harm andand relapse prevention
  • Pathways to Drug Rehabilitation Requirements (DRR's)
  • Give help and information about other related issues such as housing and benefits

We support individuals in the community before sentence and if they are discharged or fined. If someone receives a prison sentence or is remanded they can be referred to a drugs worker in prison.
